LOVE BEGINS WITHIN

A Workshop Presented by Rob Bauer for Gay Men—Single or Partnered

Esalen Institute, Big Sur, CA
October 10-12, 2014

As gay men, we hear about ourselves from others. Icons of our time, we are an obsession of the courts and religious and political machines. But whether damned or applauded, we need not lose awareness of who we are within: men with hearts and souls, surviving the wounds of childhood, prejudice, and ignorance. We are men who bring gifts to this world. Many of us live in frustration, still yearning to find that special someone. Some have given up trying. Others live in relationships that lack intimacy.

How can we find or trust someone else when we have not found or accepted ourselves? How many of us truly love ourselves? The time is now to reclaim our souls, take back our nobility, and to pay attention to our hearts. The time is now to honor our gay male wholeness and claim our birthright as sexual and spiritual beings, recognizing that love begins within ourselves.

In this workshop we will explore the power of touch - a touch that is caring and supportive. We will find new safe, respectful, and non-threatening ways to be together, both emotionally and physically. Through each other we can heal each other.

Honor that powerful spirit living within you and join Rob Bauer in a workshop at ocean’s edge. Enjoy the famed Esalen baths, delicious food, and the company of caring men.

All gay, bi, trans and queer men are welcome, regardless of age, single or in relationship. Rob, trained in the Rubenfeld Synergy Method®, and Imago Relationship Therapy, has been working with gay men singly and in relationship for over 25 years as a body-centered psychotherapist. He is celebrating 14 years of teaching at Esalen.

OPENING OUR HEARTS TO RELATIONSHIP

A Workshop Presented by Rob Bauer for Gay Men—Single or Partnered

Esalen Institute, Big Sur, CA
July 27-29, 2012

We dream of loving and being loved. Yet we often deny this need for love, support, and nurturing from another, even when in a committed relationship. We struggle to find our true selves, but shut our hearts down. However, emotions and needs that we suppress do not go away – they stay inside our bodies and psyches, affecting health and well-being.

In this workshop we will learn what keeps us alone and apart, how we sabotage new beginnings and how to be present in the moment with another. We will find new ways to communicate and make contact with each other in respectful, non-threatening ways. While many of us have been taught to see touch with a man as sexual and nothing more, we will learn how the power of touch can initiate emotional and physical healing. Most of all, we will share our laughter, stories, and feelings, and reclaim our souls.

THE HEALING POWER OF TOUCH

A Workshop for Gay Men with Rob Bauer

Easton Mountain Retreat Center, Easton, NY
April 23-25, 2010

In this workshop we will honor the dream of gay
male wholeness – recognize our diversity and
celebrate ourselves as sexual and spiritual beings.
We will pay attention to both our body’s
maleness and our hearts, which seek expression
of the sacred within us. We shall reclaim our souls,
hidden beneath our sexual personas.

Together we will explore a new, free and more loving gay paradigm. As many of us have been taught to see touch with another man as sexual and nothing more, we will explore ways to touch each other that are caring and supportive. We will learn the power of touch, emotionally and physically, and experience contact with other men in respectful and non-threatening ways. Rob will introduce the Rubenfeld Synergy Method, a powerful system developed by Body-Mind pioneer Ilana Rubenfeld over the past 40 years. This method is based on the belief that the power of touch can initiate healing and well-being and do so more effectively than talk alone. Touch is more likely to get through the “armor” with which we defend ourselves, bring hidden emotions and memories to the surface, and promote physical and emotional healing. Rob will teach through individual demonstrations, group process, body/mind exercises and hands-on techniques.

Come learn about yourself and how you can be more than you had dreamed possible.

Bring your laughter, stories and feelings as well as a generosity of spirit. All gay, bi and trans men are welcome, regardless of age, HIV status, single or in relationship

Rob Bauer, LCSW, has been working with gay men for twenty-five years as a body-centered psychotherapist. His workshops, including Touching the Body/Healing the Spirit- the Rubenfeld Synergy Method for Gay Men and Gay and Single - What Keeps Us Out of Relationship have been presented across North America, including Omega and Esalen Institutes, Rowe Conference Center and Easton Mt.
